For the second straight year, Barton County was named a Pacesetter Company by United Way of Central Kansas. To become a Pacesetter, an organization must be one of the top 15 donators to United Way. As the County is a government entity, all United Way donations are made by employees.
Executive Director Julie Bugner Smith says United Way needs the donations more than ever with 23 agencies to fund.

Smith says the Pacesetters accounted for half of United Way’s $275,000 fundraising goal last year. Over the past six years, the United Way of Central Kansas Board has allocated over $1.2 million to the community.
The 2017 campaign is currently underway with the goal again positioned at $275,000.
