K-State Finishes European Tour with 68-47 Win over BBC Lausanne

KSULAUSANNE, Switzerland – Sophomore Dean Wade contributed a team-high 17 points and 8 rebounds in just three quarters of work, as the Kansas State men’s basketball team wrapped up its 10-day tour of Italy and Switzerland with a 68-47 win over BBC Lausanne on Thursday night at the Vallee de la Jeunesse.

The Wildcats, who finished the tour with a 3-2 record, never trailed in the game, jumping out to a 40-19 lead at halftime before pushing their advantage to as many as 34 points (60-26) late in the third quarter. The team did not play any of its main starters and reserves in the fourth quarter, as all 15 players on the trip saw time in the contest.

Wade was the only Wildcat to score in double figures, as he scored a team-high 17 points on 6-of-8 field goals, including 3-of-3 from 3-point range, to go with a team-best 8 rebounds. The native of St. John, Kan., averaged a team-high 6.2 rebounds during the 5-game exhibition tour, while he was second in scoring at 9.6 points per game.

Six other players scored at least 5 points in the contest, including freshman Brian Patrick, redshirt freshman Isaiah Maurice, senior Carlbe Ervin II and sophomore Barry Brown each chipping in 6 points. Senior Wesley Iwundu added 5 points on 2-of-2 shooting to go with 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals.

K-State will start its return to the United States on Friday, flying from Geneva to Amsterdam to Atlanta before arriving in Kansas City early Saturday morning. The Wildcats will have a few days off before starting the Fall semester on Monday.
