For over five years, the City of Great Bend has hosted a Retail Roundtable meeting with various retail owners and workers in town trying to find ways to improve local shopping. Steady improvements to the retail experience and boosting the Great Bend economy remains to be their top priorities.

Hayes says over the past five years she has seen a more unified effort to make retail success a priority. Despite the economy being down all over due to struggling oil and agriculture industries, she has noticed local shops wanting to try new things and willing to participate in promotions to impact the community.
