The Central Plains Lady Oilers came up short in their bid to defend their 2A State Volleyball Championship, falling to Olathe-Heritage Christian in the Championship Match of the 2A State Tournament in Emporia Saturday.
Central Plains beat the Chargers in straight sets Friday in pool play, but Heritage Christian returned the favor in the championship match 25-12, 25-15. The Lady Oilers, who defeated Republic County in Saturday’s semi-final’s, end the season with a record of 40-3. Heritage Christian win the 2A Championship with a record of 36-9.
Otis-Bison took 3rd in the 1A-DII Tournament in Hays. The Lady Cougars lost to Axtell in Saturday Morning’s semi-final’s 25-18, 25-17 but bounced back to take down Waverly in the 3rd place match 25-20, 25-23 to end their season with a record of 28-14.
In 1A-DI, Lacrosse went 1-2 in pool play on Friday in Hays and did not qualify for the finals on Saturday.
